Light the pellets with a lighter or blowtorch. You might need to apply the heat for around 45 seconds. Once the pellets are alight, blow out the flames. This video shows how you can use A-Maze-N pellet smoker to add extra smoke when you cook.
Price – Your budget goes a long way in determining the type of smoker you buy. With lots of brands competing against each other in the market today, it is wise to compare prices so as to focus on top models to buy which also comes along with the features you need. Check out the warranty as well since this serves as a vital cover in case of damages that may occur or if it suddenly stops working within the specified warranty period.
Unlike Nick’s project, we’ll literally be using our electric model inside this cinder block foundation. So, we need to leave a direct hole in the center for the smoke to escape. If you prefer to stick to the original, close up the foundation and design a fire box using brick and mortar. This box connects to the foundation using a smoke tube.
So let’s say you have found the kind of smoker you want and already paid cash for it, how do you keep it? Do you have to keep regular maintenance to keep it in good condition? Yes and yes, there are also other ways that you can maintain a smoker. Here’s what you need to do:

If you set your cooker to a certain temperature, say, 220°F, the temperature will rise until it hits this point. The heating element will stop once this temperature is reached, however, due to a slight lag, the internal temperature in the cooker will continue to rise of its own accord for some time.
I use a home made smoker. I find that mesquite is a little strong. My preference is oak, as the main wood, and cherry. I place the cherry on the outside perimeter of the oak. The cherry adds a great sweet flavour. Caution, do not over smoke. I find 2 hours is plenty.
OK so a few thoughts here. First, congrats on who’s graduating! I have two kids graduating this year as well! Now your plan to cut the tenderloins in half, I would personally reconsider that. Why are you cutting them in half? Do you not have room to get all seven in there without cutting them? Pork tenderloins can dry out in the smoker if they are smoked a little too long, and cutting them in half I fear would increase the opportunity for them to dry out. If possible I would personally leave them whole. Next, you ask about the time it would take, and this is really hard to judge. Every smoker is different and some pork tenderloins can to be a little bit plumper than other ones so it is difficult to know exactly when they would be done. Do you have a digital thermometer? I would use that as your guide to know when they are done. That way when it reaches your desired internal temperature you know that it is done and the chance of them drying out is so minimal. I hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions feel free to fire away!
Safety – Some people worry that electric smokers are less safe to use compared to traditional models. NOT TRUE. Electric smokers have advanced sensors and settings that ensure that you and your meal are completely safe. These smokers do not pose a risk of electric shock or accidental burn from smoke discharge (unlike older pits).
Don’t oversmoke chicken and other poultry. It can make it tasty pretty bad. Adding chips just once is often a great strategy for this type of meat. Smoking chicken on a higher setting at 275 deg F can work well.

It depends on what you are cooking and how long you cook it for, also how big your pieces of wood are. For example, big blocks of wood for a whole pig, you’d need more wood after about 12-15 hours. For a rack of ribs and smaller chips, check it every 4 hours.
Grill Mates makes an incredible Brown Sugar Bourbon seasoning that we are simply obsessed with! In addition, your choice of wood chips will infuse the meat with very specific flavors. Don’t be afraid to mix it up and try different combos.
It depends on what kind of smoker you have. For an electric smoker you would have to consult the manufacturer. For a propane smoker, check to make sure the flame is adjusting when you turn the heat up. You may have a leak somewhere in the smoker that is letting heat out. You may also have a faulty thermometer.

It’s a plug-and-cook unit that many users have praised for a long time.
Always check a smoker’s capacity before buying it. You don’t want to buy a huge smoker if you only plan on preparing personal meals regularly, and you don’t want to buy a compact smoker if you’re preparing meals for lots of people at once. Generally speaking, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so if you have extra space, it can’t hurt to buy a unit with a larger capacity than you think you’ll need.
These units are built for durability and performance. These factors influence the price. That’s why this type of smokers tends to have a sky-high price, but they’re worth every penny. First of all, they can last for years without needing a replacement. You should buy these smokers if you want to enjoy the full benefits of an electric smoker. Although you’re going to have to pay a hefty price, you won’t regret a single moment.
